On June 17, 2026, LION notified S&S Consolidated Independent School District (S&S CISD) that the statutory deadline on its public-records request had passed with no records produced.
The Texas Public Information Act (Texas Government Code Chapter 552) requires a governmental body to promptly produce public records, and gives it ten business days to either produce the records or ask the Attorney General for a ruling. LION filed request SSCISD-PIA-001 on June 1, 2026, seeking the district’s library catalog for all three campuses and any approved 2025–26 reading lists.
The district acknowledged the request on June 10 but said it would “respond substantively in July when our contracted hours resume.” The tenth business day — June 15, 2026 — passed with no records produced and no ruling request filed. On June 17, LION sent the district written notice that the deadline had passed, stated that “staffing schedules are not a lawful basis to defer production,” requested production, and added that, “[a]bsent production, LION will seek assistance from the Office of the Attorney General’s Open Records Division.”
