Van Alstyne Independent School District serves students in Grayson and Collin Counties.

On April 17, 2026, LION filed a Texas Public Information Act request with Van Alstyne ISD asking for the complete export of each campus library catalog in electronic format, plus any district reading or curriculum lists in use during the 2025–26 school year.

The request was directed to Jodi Melvin, then VAISD’s designated Public Information Coordinator. Texas Government Code §552.221 sets a ten-business-day response window for public-information requests.
